Forest Friday

Open-ended playing, exploring, and hiking in the Watchung Reservation.

Description

Every Friday, we trade walls for woods and screens for streams, spending the day hiking, climbing, exploring, and just soaking up the magic of the great outdoors. Whether it’s building forts, spotting critters, or simply lying under the trees, Forest Fridays are all about discovery, connection, and a whole lot of muddy, messy fun. INSTRUCTORS Tammy and Ben lead Forest Fridays at The Village Electric. Tammy brings her calm presence and years of experience nurturing kids' curiosity and independence, while Ben adds a touch of wilderness expertise. A former assistant Scout leader, Ben survived 10 days and 100 miles of backcountry hiking at Philmont, mastered backcountry first aid, and even knows how to safely drink water from a mud puddle (though we hope it won’t come to that). Together, they create the perfect balance of adventure, learning, and quiet appreciation for the natural world, inspiring kids to explore, connect, and grow in the great outdoors.
